Keyboard CW (K1EL K44 CW Keyboard and Reader Kit)

Before I get comments re I should learn Morse by ear, I wish to state I have a hearing problem and wear two hearing aids  and want to try CW.

I have a K1EL  K44 CW Keyboard and reader Kit which I want to connect to a Flex 6500.

Has anyone done this before or can offer a Keyboard CW option with the Flex 6500?

It must be able to send and read .

Help would be appreciated . 73

Hi John, if you are running SmartSDR, there is a CWX feature that allows you to use your keyboard to send CW.  CW Skimmer can be purchased and installed which will do the decoding.  I know that does not utilize the K44, but it is an option that just requires a bit more software.

    Hi John,

I have K44 and it works well with my 6700. It's a little annoying in that the K44 will not work directly with a USB keyboard. You will need an adapter. Otherwise, no problems.

FRLogger has a great CW keyboard and now has a built in CW decoder that works pretty well.  Give it a try.  It's free and easy to use.  http://ws7m.net/index.php/logger

+1 for CW Skimmer. It works well providing the sender has a good fist and sending good spacing. I do agree you should learn CW since nothing decodes as good as the human brain but CW Skimmer will help you to confirm what you think you hear.

For sending I use CWX built into SmartSDR or N1MM+ macros for contests. CWX has a live mode which allows keyboard CW.
