Well  Dang it

My 6600m which i bought as part of the first production run back in 2018 just keeps on working...

Even after they did the PEN update it still works

i don t know ...must be something about their quality control and customer support too

after now accomplishing 8 Band DXCC and with 330 confirmed ( just one short of HR now)

and

it hasnt even caught any 'puter virus's yet either....

hope to see ya'll on the bands

as thar aint much else to do ;-))

Excellent!!  I have only had mine a couple of months and love it.  Had an impromptu Flex net on 20 this evening.  More and more Flex owners chimed in - all had excellent audio, all radios worked!

I see you have a couple of displays with world maps, I guess showing who you're communicating with.  Did that come with your FLEX 6600M or is that different software/module?  I'm thinking about buying a 6600M and I'm trying to figure out these things.  Thx

Congratulations Paul K3SF - well done!

Like your multiscreen setup too! (@John - you are seeing a pretty nice display of several programs, many which are not specific to FRS)

All best, Good DX, and 73

    thank you

it has been years and years in the making

i have been license since 1962 at the age of 14...

ham radio got me into my engineering career
from which i retired about 7 years ago
    supporting DoD, and INTEL community

    as for my setup

    there are three mac minis
    and
router and gigabit switch on a shelf hidden behind
    the main 27 inch monitor
    and
the upper monitors are AOC 21 inchers

all minis connect to 6600m via gigabit switch

the maps were generated by macdxlogger (mldx) by Don AGRO
it is also my logging program as well as cluster interface

the cluster interface  can also connect to local FT8 output
as well as to my CWSkimmer cluster in a virtual windows machine
while all at the same to to world cluster service

what you see running is mac running FT8 directly from the 6600m
using xdax and xcat... i can run multiple instances of FT8
when running FT8 i usually have two instance going in different bands

i have run 4 slices using xSDR6000 client by doug k3tzr
as well as DPSDR by Don Agro

i easily mix and match modes
such as rtty with some ft8 with some ssb with some cw

i run mostly native mac apps

i also run multiple instance of mldx connected to the cluster
    BUT
on each i can setup filters for what i want to see on each instance
hence the maps each can provide different info to me

i use an antenna matrix switch (WX0B) to switch antenna farmette
    a 8 element LPDA (tennadyne T8) at 50 ft,
a 145 ft OCF at 70ft strung between trees with counter weights
    a 43ft Vertical with 64 radials

two other OCFs came down when some trees fell on them
which i have yet to replace
    and
they will be replaced with 160m OCF over the summer i hope

OH yea...it is a RFI quiet location

I've owned my Flex-6700 for almost 5 years.  It developed a minor problem after the first year but FRS corrected the problem under warranty and returned the rig to me very quickly.

There's currently no other transceiver on the market that I would trade my Flex for.  Amazing rig.

Same here. I received my 6700 6 years ago this coming August, and it’s never let me down. Maybe it’s due to me still using Win 7

I would be interested to know if many other people are also still using Win 7?

    Keep safe, Winston VK7WH

I have had my 6500 for 5 years, I have never had a lock up, Blue screens or any of the things some others complain about. But keep in mind my computer is dedicated to the Flex. The radio is used 6 hours a day with this infection going around. It turns on every day and ready to use, and I never give it a thought. I am now on Win 10 without any problems, very stable. I have always used Win 7 but I got a newer computer. Win 7 drivers for some devices became hard to find.

    Paul

On your Mac, running WSJT-X, do you run some sort of audio "alerting" application.  I mean something like JTAlert in the Windows world.

I gave JT Bridge a try on the Mac, but could not see how it gave audio alerts, such as when my call sign is heard, or when another station is calling CQ.

And my 6400 just keeps on keeping on... Briefly went to a knob radio (but came back to my senses)...

    hi alan

i do use JTbridge...in pref panel under notifications
    you can set the alarms

also it checks against what is set in the JTbridge pref's
    and against the MLDX database

i use system default alert sound
    see below
    but
most of the time i am at the radio and i can see "RED" hi-lited country or state

    note :
also at the bottom of jtbridge window you can check mark mode and band too for alerting
