Flashing red light or solid dim or bright red light ?  Adequate ventilation around the radio ?  Does this happen when radio is sitting idle or do you have to warm it up by transmitting ?  There is a fan rpm sensor which will force the radio to shut down if there is a problem with the fan but this only takes a few minutes to happen.  Can you hear or tell if the fan is running when you get the error message ?

I was monitoring 20 meter ssb and a popping noise started coming from the speakerAND THE WATERFALL WAS FROZEN so I shut down my relatively new (3 months) old 6400M. Normally green light started flashing red until it shut down! I tried to restart and it loaded up but no waterfall, received signals or normal functions.

I suspect it was fan failure! This 6400M was purchased new from Flex this spring.

Hi Tom, you should submit a help desk ticket right away if you have not already done so.
