What type of Amp are you using??

Administrator, FlexRadio Employee, Community Manager, Super Elmer, Moderator admin
I'm doing a poll on HF Amps

I would like to know which HF amp you are using and if it is CAT controlled.

Let me know!

AL-1306 but I gave up trying to get the cable and CAT commands to work. I generally only use it on 20 & 40 so I just switch it manually

Hi Mike.  I'm using an SPE 1.3K  Didn't bother hooking up the CAT but it is available.  What I really like about this amp - 1300+ watts out on ssb with 18 watts drive, very quiet, only weighs 17 lbs.

DX2400 controlled by the radio USB port.  Probably not a well known amp.

Running SPE 2K-FA, up to 1,500 watts SSB/CW, 1.2Kw on continuous modes like FT8, RTTY, etc. I'm using the cable sold by Expert Linears that connects the Flex radio directly to the SPE amp. When I power my radio up/down, the amp powers up/down with it automatically, band switching is automatic, and transmitter drive levels are automatically adjusted per band at each of Low/Medium/High power levels to drive the correct power out, without any ALC.

I really like the built-in tuner and 6 antenna ports.

    Couldn't be happier.

Using an Acom 2000a controlled by several CAT control programs.  About to add a new RF-Kits B26 solid state amp.  Running a 6600M.

QRO HF-2000 and Amp Supply LK-550, both use 3-500Z's and fully manual.  I've not been brave enough to try CAT with anything as yet.  Prefer easy.

SPE 2K-FA.  It is CAT controlled and remote controlled via FlexLogger.  I would have done a PGXL but it appears they are still very difficult to get.

Expert 1K and Acom 1000 with 6700. Blyg amps are great, but in slightly different ways. Only drawback with Expert, old software for PC control. Doesn't work nearly as well as SW for the never models. Negative with Acom? No remote control at all. But a genuin easy to handle workhorse.

    Hi Bill,
True on the price, had mine for 10 years now.  Built like a tank, the combined weight of the power supply and RF deck is 145 lbs.   Here is a link to my web page with more details if interested.
