Adjusting CTCSS Level
Ed Johnson
Member ✭✭
In the Flex 6400 using the latest SmartSDR and a 2 meter transverter, when I activate CTCSS in NFM mode the deviation is almost 5 KHz and competes with the voice. Is there a way to adjust the CTCSS transmit level in the NFM mode down to 0.5KHz like it should be??

Look on p-ge 93 of the manual... it’s adjusted in the flag1

See chapter 22 in the SmartSDR Software User Guide. It describes the deviation as a function of the mode (NFM at 2.5kHz vs FM at 5kHz).0

The flag shows no place for me to adjust the CTCSS level, rather only which CTCSS frequency to use. Unless I am missing something ....0

I still don't see any way to adjust the CTCSS deviation. The manual explains it, but does not provide any way to increase or decrease the CTCSS level. In the NFM mode the CTCSS transmitted is as strong as the voice and needs to be only 20% of the voice deviation.0

I have corrected the high CTCSS deviation by rebooting the 6400 and it seems to be normal again. I am assuming the CTCSS levels are hard coded and are not changeable.0

I believe that is correct.0
