SmartSDR for IOS: remote connect in LAN mode "Discover" responds with immediate "search error"

When trying to connect via LAN in Discover mode I get "Search Error" immediately.
If select Scan mode, I get a connect in about 30 seconds. I have used the iPad for over a year with no trouble, yet this morning I could not connect to the Flex in Discover mode.
My IPhone is working just fine in Discover mode. Same network as the iPad.
I noticed in the SmartSDR for IOS manual that he mentions that the "network doesn't support Discovery". What is that about? Did my network change overnight?
Suggestions where to look would be appreciated.
