Firewire Cable Lengths

I notice Flex sells a 6 foot Granite Digital Firewire cable for the 5000A.  If I were to opt for the 10 foot version of this cable (same manufacturer) am I asking for trouble?  And I've noticed that Granite Digital sells cables with a troubleshooting LED.  Is this a useful option?

I checked this week and Flex had none in stock, I got 2, 3' cables from Granite, no 6' cables in stock, anything longer is too long for the Flex 5000-A. Good Luck. de KD6OS Ralph

You can go up to 15' for firewire cable. I use one regularly in my shack in fact.

Is there any advantage (or disadvantage) to having a LED built into the Granite Firewire cable?
