Can I connect a USB cable from my 6500 to my computer to have it communicate back and forth, particularly with Amateur Contact Log?

Not necessary. You can connect to a virtual com port that is provided by the SmartSDR CAT program. SmartSDR CAT uses TCP/IP to talk to the radio and then provides you with Virtual Serial Ports. You can create many serial ports, so you can run multiple programs that need CAT in parallel like N1MM and WSJT.

    I hope this help. 73, Andreas, N6NU

An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
