xvtr api commands

I'm exploring the use of the xvtr api commands by running SmartSDR with the "Radio Setup" dialog open to the XVTR tab. I then connect to the radio from my own client and send it:
C123|xvtr create
That creates a new xvtr and I see a new blank xvtr appear on the Radio Setup dialog.
I receive a reply:
R123|0|1
Then I try to set the xvtr name by sending:
C124|xvtr set 00000001 name=512
I receive a reply:
R124|0|
but the name does not show up in the Radio Setup dialog.
I have been able to set the rf_freq but other fields don't seem to set when I send the appropriate command.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

I just did a quick test and it appears that your command is fine and will update the radio. However, we aren't getting a status message out to the other clients, so the new value isn't reflected immediately in them. This is a bug. I entered it as #4944 for tracking.0

Eric,
Thanks for the explanation, now I know that my approach is OK.0
