The radio and Maestro powers on when u apply 12VDC. The remote on/off is used to cycle the radio off and on. After running Remote for years, i found that I need to be able to cycle power on many devices not just the radio

Btw. I had3 WEMO Switches but they turned out to be less than 100% reliable.

So.  What your saying is that it is perfectly fine just turning off the power to the radio to power it off?  I thought since it is basically a computer, it had to go through a normal shut down procedure and that is why there is an RCA jack on the back of the rig.

Sometimes the radio gets "stuck" and you need a hard power cycle. This is especially true if you run alpha versions like Howard and I do. So he has the option of hard power cycle and graceful reboot.

Ria, exactly correct.  I like others sometime suffer from the random loss of the Flex on the LAN (seperate thread on this issue already underway) using the current release of SmartSDR.  When that happens the remote on/off has no effect and I have to shut off remotely the DC supply and restart it to get the Flex to recover from the issue.
