Ethernet to Firewire adapters

Options
Will they work?  I am using a Dell 6430 laptop, and the PCMCIA card is toward the front on the right side.  The cards sticks out way to far, and with the Firewire cable plugged in it makes it that more less convenient to use the laptop.  Can a guy buy a Ethernet to Firewire adapter and have it work.  I sure would like to be able to run the radio using the Ethernet port.  I have seen these adapters, and they just plug into the Ethernet port and the Firewire cable plugs into the Firewire port on the adapter.  Sure would make it nice this setup would work.  Anybody tried this yet??  TNX, Bob

It would be nice, if that were possible. Can you post a link to the Firewire to Ethernet adapter your looking at? I'd like to look it over too.

The answer is no.  The only mixed physical layer device known to interface with Firewire is a Thunderbolt interface
