Two copies of fldigi talked to a different slice in SmartSDR

There are two SmartSDR profiles in the fldigi repository that lets you run two instances of fldigi and have one assigned to Slice A and one to Slice B. Pretty neat guys! I suspect the hand of Tim Ellison behind these new rig profiles!image

https://community.flexradio.com/flexradio/topics/smartcat-rigcat-fldigi-slice-b-xml I made the slice B XML based on the first one. It got added to the FLDigi site a month ago which is awesome.

Nope.  But it can be fun to operate on two bands or operate multiple digital modes, like  PSK and RTTY on the same band at the same time.

Just to play I operated PSK-31 on one slice and had Weather fax being copied on the other (RX only) kind of fun and put the radio to more uses.
As well as WSPR(RX 30 and 20 sending data back) on the last 2 (6500)  Had a full house and lots of demands on the DAX and CAT..
It's the great thing about radio not just Ham radio we can listen to or do things outside of working DX looking for awards or contesting. I have never chased DX or worked a contest except Field Day with the club I'm a member of (I still have a few years left maybe I'll do those things at some point).

Did you save the config file after making changes?

I would also recommend using the Gui to make changes to fldigi's config and not edit it by hand.

There is a checkbox in the fldigi to use the setting. It is not set by default. Look carefully. At your settings menu.

This sounds like a Windows permissions issue if you cannot save your configuration.  I have no issues like this at all with Fldigi.

Still sounds like a Windows permissions issue local toy your PC.  The only time I have ever had this issue is when I didn't save or the rigCAT option to Restore Settings on Close has been checked.
