TNF trick

While waiting for ANF to be perfected, I have a little trick for the TNF that I sometimes use when rag-chewing with the guys on 40/75 meters. I will often keep my pan adapter zoomed so that the conversation takes up 1/3 or more of the pan. Then I create a TNF and drag it just outside my RX passband, usually to the opposite sideband. Then whenever one of the "rude crew" begins tuning up on our frequency, or jamming us, I simply drag the TNF on top of him. It is faster than creating a new one when needed... And unfortunately on those bands it is ALWAYS needed at some point during the QSO! Fast, simple, and doesn't distort the audio like the ANF does.

I've also been doing that, Ken. I find it also cuts down a little noise.0

In the Flex SDR world, that's what we call carrying one in the chamber.

Yes. And we can chamber one above and another below and be ready with both barrels...1

Ken, I will try that on the 3000. I have never found a perfect setting for the ANF and it distorts a little all the time. I did find a setting for the NB and it works amazing, kills the noise and NO distortion, but it took some time to find the sweet spot.

I find the TNF does distort the audio some (no I don't have it real wide)
But less than the useless (close anyways ) NR
