Ordered a Expert 1KA today should be here Friday. I have read all the posts and understand I will use ddutil 3.0 to control Expert via computer. Purchased a RS232 to USB from Array solutions but will that key the Expert amplifier or is RCA PTT or ALC needed. Flex manual warns about using ALC. I'm looking for a straight answer not somone asking if I read the posts because I have. Ian

Ian, DDutil should be your friend definitely, this util is natively support 1K-FA via interface, all others options as Howard said please.0

I key a 1K through the RCA port.
Heads up - the 1K has an inline tuner that's still activated on receive. It's sharp enough that you cannot monitor multiple bands using your transmit antenna. The 1K has a separate multiband receive antenna port, which is useful if you have a separate broadband receive antenna.
I'm told the 2K switches the tuner out of line on receive. Other than the tuner issue, the 1K works great with the 6K.
