Tune Step Ease Needed (like in PowerSDR)

Part of the magic of PowerSDR is the ease of tuning by picking the rate of change merely by moving the mouse pointer over that digit. (Instead of burying it somewhere in a TX menu.) It is this simple minded Captain Obvious sort of thinking that we need lots more of in SmartSDR.

In SpectraVue, clicking on the top half of the digit increases the digit by 1; clicking on the bottom half of the digit decreases the digit by 1.

The tune step is always available with one click on the active slice control panel under the transmitter controls.

Thank You Gerald. Unfortunately that is totally counter-intuitive. A beginner wants to first learn how to receive. The very last place to look for receiving is transmitting. This is sort of like stopping the car and opening the trunk each time to flip the turn signal.

PSDR got it right - zero clicks required. Tuning and volume adjust are the 2 most common activities and should be the simplest, most obvious, and most satisfying IMHO.

    Hi Dave,
    FWIW, the "tool tip" says:

But it should probably say "Show/Hide RX/TX panel" since the items displayed include the RX panel and the Equalizer for both RX and TX.

Or maybe even just "Show/Hide Control Panel"

I usually leave the panel showing but of course not everyone has the screen space or wants to do that.  There is a request to allow the panels to be docked/displayed separately and even dragged to another monitor if you use more than one monitor.

It's hard to come up with a design that works for everyone, so options are good at least from that perspective.   It can be a lot of work though to implement a "drag and dock" panel design if it was not done that way from the start.
