two instances of WSJT-X

I have two copies of WSJT-X installed in different folders.  Each is set up to listen to a separate DAX channel.  I can see the signals for each band in its waterfall and they look different as they should.    But it seems that only one instance can decode the signals it sees.

Any ideas what's going on?

I run wsjt-x exactly like you describe but haven't seen that type of problem.  Do you have it configured to decode JT65, JT9, or both?  This is probably an obvious suggestion, but make sure the frequency separator for both modes is at the right place, and that you're in DIGU/USB mode.

Also a while back I was playing around with giving each wsjt instance its own CPU core to process data, but that seemed to break the decoding reliability, so I just gave the processes back all 4 cpu cores.

In my one instance (that's not decoding) the Decode button has a blue background with gray text where as the working instance does not.   Clicking the button does not remove the blue.  It's like that one's stuck in decode mode.

Hmm.  There's an option somewhere in the menu in wsjt that says "Allow multiple instances", make sure that is turned on.

I guess you could try to copy/paste your working wsjt folder to a new (3rd) folder, and see if you can reproduce the problem with the new copy.

I'll see if I can reproduce the problem on my computer tonight.

That's it.  I had to enable Allow Multiple Instances in both and then restart both.   thanks Robbie.
