DAX and MIC configuration

When will the capability be available to combine audio inputs such as: DAX+MIC DAX+BAL ACCY+MIC Mainly interested in the DAX+MIC for contesting so that N1MM can play back stored messages while the mic is also used at the same time. For example; A common recording may be: {CALL} 599 {ser no} {mycall}. This is often don by making the recording with a pause where the serial number would go. Suggestion would be to modify the +ACCY button to a drop down where you can select +ACCY, +DAX., Process idea would be to change the main input to whatever you want in the +drop down window and set the gain. Then change the main input to what you are using for your mic input, MIC, BAL, or Line in. Set your input gain for that input then make your + selection as desired. Thanks and keep up the fine work. 73 Greg AB7R

Yes.... I was about to post on this Greg. DAX with PTT override for "balanced" and "mic" in needs to be on the roadmap. This function is important to respond to voice questions when experimenting or brief socialising between digital sessions using voice. Currently to switch to voice is cumbersome with FreeDV being the only exception as this a dual mode digi/analogue voice application that uses DAX for both. However going between Easypal, SSTV etc and Voice is where things get difficult in a similar scenario Greg is expressing. Not an easy call as there are two operational scenarios... 1) In shack Mic plugged into rig and 2) remote WiFi Lan or Wan operations. That aside its party time.... Happy New Year.... If I understood a post by K9DUR in another conversation, it was supposed to work so that you could go to your regular mike input, hit the PTT, then got to DAX and use it. Whanever you hit the PTT it would automatically switch to whatever source was last used with the ptt, whether mike, line, or BAL and override the DAX input. If they get that working like this, it will be great.

Hi Guys, Yes the ability to share the mic with an output channel in the DAX would be useful to check the mic. chain with a software spectrum analyser program such as Spectrum Analyzer Pro by PAS. Incoming audio works fine but would be nice to view the audio spectra in the program as well.

It may be working in the next release of SmartSDR. No promises.

Tim, in the long run, it would be really nice to be able to select which input gets to transmit when either PTT or CAT Serial port are keyed. For example, I would like to be able to send Digital Slow scan via DAX with keying from the Serial port or CAT, and be able to override that with the PTT and the Line or BAL input so I can add comments to other stations without switching inputs manually. But other times I would like to be able to use the PTT Foot Switch but have the audio coming via DAX so I can run FreeDV digital voice, or use an outboard broadcast audio processor like Stereo Tool to feed the audio using my USB Mixer. The flexibility to be able to quickly assign (and re-assign) a variety of setups would be great.

Looks like this is working in 1.1. Thanks Flex.

I noticed today that when DAX is enabled for transmit source that the BAL is still used when the hand mic PTT is used to key the radio. It works great as I can send SSTV via DAX and still use my headset mic on BAL when I want to talk.

Having a "HOT" mic can be useful as long as your aware of what's going to air. That was one of the 1st things I tested here interestingly.

This was one of the first things I tested when I installed 1.1.  Glad to see it.  Now I can operate using the K9DUR Voice Keyer, and/or do SSTV/EasyPAL and hit the footswitch to add my comments without needing to hit any other buttons.

I would like the add ability to select the PTT Footswitch-with-DAX audio so I can use an outboard software audio processor such as Stereo Tool, or Voice Shaper,  As it is, when I experiment with these, I have to mouse-click the MOX in order to transmit with audio through the outboard processor.  (But at least I can do that now!)

I used the K9DUR voice keyer yesterday.  I could not get it to work on DAX TX1...for whatever reason when I changed to TX2 it worked.  Don't ask me why.

Oh wait...duh!  I use DX Labs and had it open and Win Warbler uses TX1 for digital modes.  Maybe it keeps the soundcard busy even though I was in SSB and not a digital mode.
