Issue where SainSmart usb board is set to invalid state only when radio is OFF state with 12v ON

I'm having a crazy issue where SainSmart usb cables board (8-relay FTDI version) works perfectly when Flex is on, sets relays and antennas as configured in SmartSDR, but when I turn the Flex OFF (leaving 12v on) the radio in its sleep state sets the usb relays to a crazy state, selecting multiple invalid antennas in my station making things unusable.

When I turn the Flex 12v OFF, the relays drop and are fine. When I turn the 12v ON, the crazy state with multiple odd relays selected returns until the Flex is powered ON, then they clear and all is fine.

It seems like the radio is leaving the usb cables board in an invalid state as part of its power down/sleep actions. I know its not completely off when powered off as long as the 12v is there, and this is when this happens.

Its too bad because otherwise the board works perfectly when the Flex is on, and selects antennas as I have configured it to do, and works fine. It does chatter a little as the Flex boots, but I think that has been reported before, and I can live with that. But I can't live with it screwing up my antenna switching station-wide when the Flex is turned off.

thanks for any ideas, or should I do a support case on this one?
