Maestro Headset Monitor audio delay, workaround

As a contester using the Maestro and the RadioSport RS60CF headset (with the proper Maestro cable I ordered from them), I like to hear my transmitted audio via Monitor. However, as I understand it, the audio is routed back through the 8600, which causes a delay. The delay is unfortunately just long enough to be audibly disorienting when using. If the monitor is turned off, I can't tell if I'm speaking at a normal level or shouting, because the headphones are so quiet. To work around this, a selection in the Maestro for "Direct Monitor" would be nice, where the audio from the headset mic is just directly looped back to the headphones, knowing of course that you are not hearing any EQ, Compression etc. and just raw audio. To me this would be better than the delay or nothing.

I know I can avoid the delay by connecting the headset (with proper 8600 cable) to the 8600, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having the Flex gear positioned away from the operating position. Thanks.

Update:
After using this for a while, I found that if I lower the monitor volume to just a bit above audible, I can still hear myself in the headset, but the delay is not disorienting.

I also experienced, and did not like, this "self-monitor" delay. My work-around was to turn off the MON feature, and place my headphones only covering one ear. That allows the other ear to "self-monitor" through the air.

Been asking for a fix for this major oversight for literally years and years.

I can not understand why Flex would have designed the Maestro this way - TWICE (in the "A"/"B" version and the "C" version which took four years to complete). As Flex has often reminded users, the monitor point is before the EQ and processor so it can't be used for transmitter adjustment. It's there ONLY for monitoring and is therefore essentially useless.

Hopefully it's addressable in f/w as opposed to being hard wired that way. I've never been able to get an answer from Flex about that. And, hopefully they'll address it soon.
