Just ordered Aurora 520 and have some questions

I just ordered an Aurora 520. I am currently using a Heil PR 781 microphone with a HS2 PTT switch. I saw a post on this forum that Flex sells a XLR to trrs cable. I am not finding it. Can someone recommend where to get this cable for my mic and how best to use the HS2 PTT?

Looking at the manual the PTT has a RCA input. I would think if I purchased an adapter that has a male rca connector on one end and the female 1/4 on the other that would work?

Hi John, yes, that should work. I would suggest an adapter cable so that you don't have a long adapter hanging off the back of the rig. Long adapters can put a lot of strain on the connector on the radio and are prone to being bumped which can break things.

@KD0RC I am assuming your answer is regarding the PTT switch. The only XLR cable I see in the flex store is the one for the radiosport headset. It has the mini 6 pin xlr connection.

Hi John, yes that was just for the PTT switch. I think W2IHY makes cables, so you might want to look them up. I have never used any of their cables, but I do see them mentioned from time to time.

I have reached out to him. Thank you. I also found one on Amazon to get me by until I can purchase a sound cable. One of the comments for the cable said he used it to connect his mic to his Flex 8400 and it works great.

Just be careful with cables from Amazon. You want an XLR female to TRS 1/4" Male cable. Some cables from China are not wired as balanced cables.
