Updating Older Flexradio's that I Own@

I have had my 8400M For close to two years. And when the New Version 4 Firmware came out I paid the fee and upgraded. But, I also have a 6400M and 6400 in my possession. Is it even worth my while to upgrade the radio's to the most current version? The reason I ask the question is if my 8400M wasn't working and I sent it in for service, I may want to connect my 6400M and use that. I assume that I could operate the 6400M using the current firmware I had installed in it. And also would have to download an old version of SmartSDR. What are your thoughts on this?

Hi Mark, I would bring all radios up to the current release. That way you get all the bug fixes and the convenience of one version of SmartSDR to manage.

This is even more important if you use DAX, as the old and new versions require different setups in WSJT-X (or whatever digital program you are using).

The older radios i would only go to v4 basic latest release, only do plus or early access if the 8000 needed to visit the mothership. Even basic v4.2.18 is a decent upgrade and you get to lose the old win11 noncompatible cat and dax.
