6500 strange behaviour on SSB TX

Hi,

I have lately a problem with my Flex 6500. When transmitting in SSB, the SWR value bar will jump up and down up to the red field and beyond. The power level seems to do the same.

This in all bands/SSB.

I still however receive good controls and the radio is usable.

Checked the antenna (Hyendfed) and in all bands is OK. Nothing strange there.

Working on Digital modes or CW, key down full power, the phenomenon does not manifest itself. Just in SSB. Reduced power, played the MIC settings, nothing.

Disabled the ATU … same. Tuning the antenna would give a good SWR then when clicking again just the TUNE button will go again in the RED.

I have no clue what to try anymore.

Just a factory reset of the radio but I hope I can avoid this as the radio is in a remote location.

I am thankful for any possible advice from the Community.

Yes, if your radio were really local, a factory reset might be the next thing to try! Lightning or other surges can lock up the radio this way. So maybe you need to "bite the bullet"

I have had a similar situation. I ended up being a bad connecter on the feed;ine.
