how to connect smartsdr to top ten device decoder

I connected an FTDI serial converter to the usb at the rear of the radio. I connected a db9/db22 adapter to the top ten device. I went to settings/usb and put in Cat.
The top ten device did not respond. What else do I have to do?

what I found for the Top Ten Band Aide decoder is you would wire a FTDI USB to BIT cable to the Elecraft Band A, B, C, and D inputs plus ground (5 wires of the ten on the USB to bit cable). Set the USB cable in SmartSDR as an HF BCD cable. set the Top Ten as Elecraft band data.

  • Dave I wonder if I have the correct FTDI cable. Shouldn't I have one that goes from usb to parallel FTDI?
That cable they suggesty (FTDI C232HM-EDHSL is not cheap. Here it is $200 Canadian!
I am not sure how I get to the Elecraft Band!

Hi Denis, Mouser has them for $35.50 USD. Expected availability on 4/3/26. I hope that is not still $200 CDN!
