I will say this, I am extremely impressed with the noise reduction features in SmartSDR v4 Plus and Early Access. I spent several hours late last night comparing SmartSDR noise reduction features to those in Thetis with my Anan 8000DLE. I am using the latest beta of Thetis and it continues to improve and just amazes me how well the noise reduction features in it work. I can honestly say that the new noise reduction features in SmartSDR are just as good as in Thetis. While there are no adjustment sliders or other means to fine tune the noise reduction in SmartSDR, I have found that using the AGC-T in conjunction with whichever noise reduction algorithm selected, makes a huge difference.

For example, last night I was listening to a roundtable on 75 meters. Some stations were booming in. Others were all but buried by the noise reduction of RNN . But, turning up AGC-T brought the weak stations up and made them clear and easy to understand. And no background hiss or other band noise! The stronger stations just became louder. So, turning down the volume fixed that. Overall, very impressive! I think having a pop-up menu with Advanced settings for the different noise reduction features available would really be useful to many users. ( as long as there's a reset to default settings button in case playing with the advanced settings messes things up.)

I think that so far, Flex Radio's engineering has hit a home run with the Aurora and the new features in SmartSDR. I am looking forward to what happens in the future for SmartSDR.

My 520 arrived today. I’ve made a couple of cw contacts with great reports. It’s been several years since I had a Flex and I have forgotten how much there is to learn.

I ordered mine on June 6 and got it today. Letting it warm up while I eat. I am glad to get it before the big snow.
