8600 - NO DITS

Hello - Opened a ticket, but posting here as well since I have not heard from them yet.

Have an 8600 with 4.1.3 SDR

Suddenly yesterday while calling KP5 on CW… I lost left paddle (DITS) response. RIght side (dahs) are good. Tested cable and paddle to be good but swapped them out anyway with same result.

Exported settings, factory reset 8600. No change, so I have no CW paddle capability.

Internal CW and N1MM external control works fine…

Has anyone been successful in addressing this without sending the radio in?

Thanks,

Jose Castillo - N4BAA

Jose, assuming you haven't changed the CW keying options, remove and insert your CW keying cable several times. Wiggle it. My 6600 has a defect at the connector and I have to do this to find the sweet spot where it works correctly. Unfortunately, the connector is an assembly that is soldered into the circuit board and not worth the hassle of repairing myself or sending it back to the factory. Of course, recheck your CW settings for iambic keying.

Hello and thank you…. Tried that with no change…. HOWEVER,

I just loaded SDR 4.1.5 and all is well now for whatever reason…

I'll keep an eye on it! Again,… thank you.

I am back.. After about 2 hours of no issues… suddenly the dits went away again.

I have received my RMA authorization from Flex to return my 8600… $125 minimum just to look at it…

    Crazy… but I have no choice….
