Relative Noise floor bug?

Has anyone noticed this. Ive got the Relative Noise floor adjustment turned on. I adjust the noise floor just above the baseline. On 40 with the odd static crashes (they are not constant), the noise floor drops under the baseline, but doesnt readjust back to the previous position just above the baseline. Have to manually adjust it, until the next static crash. I would have thought it would be adjusting itself automatically back to just above baseline. Anyone seen this? Possible bug? Not seeing the point of it, if I have to manually adjust it after a static crash

I have to admit, I'm having a little trouble understanding the point of it in the first place. It's always been possible to manually adjust the position of the noise floor by sliding the gain scale ribbon on the right. It doesn't change much so manually adjusting it from time to time is no big deal in the first place.

Hayley indicated it was a precursor to more advanced features so I guess there's nothing more to it than that ?

My guess is that automatic AGC-T adjustments are next. Can't adjust the AGC-T properly without knowing where the noise level is, so this sounds like the precursor feature.

Now that would be great ! Another very requested feature. I'll bet you're right, Len !

Yuri has already implemented automatic AGC-T in SDC, its in the SmartSDR API interface settings. You can set the desired S/N ratio and SDC adjusts the AGC-T as you switch bands or band conditions change. It works very well in contests when you might be jumping around bands looking for multipliers.

So hopefully Flex might be able to catch up one day ;-)

My only worry is that they might remove the manual control… 😉
