EQ settings / mic profile for Shure SM7B

Hi! Today I received my first FlexRadio 8400. What a station :-)

I’m wondering which RX EQ settings I should choose for a Shure SM7B microphone to get the best sound for DX chasing. In the default profile for dynamic microphones, the EQ is quite flat and seems more suited for rag chewing. I’d appreciate recommendations. I’m using a preamp with the microphone, so no adjustments to the EQ settings need to account for that. Also, when should you enable Mic Bias and Boost?

To start with the simple ones, mic bias is on for electret mike capsules and off for dynamic mikes. Boost is on or off to get the needed drive level for the radio.
Rx Eq is for the receive operation and adjusted to suit operator preference. Tx Eq is for transmitter operation with a microphone. There is a variety of ideas on adjusting this Eq. Usually for DX type operations, POTA, etc. generally cut below 300 and above 3000. General rule is cut before boost.

Thanks John for taking the time to reply, much appreciated.
Okay, QSL! Are there any RX EQ settings for dynamic microphones like the SM7B that you would recommend?

Hi Mattias, there are no "universal" EQ settings. They are totally dependent on your voice and how you want it to sound over the air.

Ken, NM9P has some excellent videos on YouTube about using Full Duplex (FDX) to adjust your TX EQ. Take a look at Ken's videos and you will be able to get your audio just right.
