Using USB-C or Thunderbolt 4 for Cat 5e cable

I am buying a new laptop and it does not have a RJ45 jack. Can I use a USB-C to RJ-45 adapter or the Thunderbolt 4? Or either? Which is best?

Thank you for answering.

Several years ago, I got a new Macbook Pro. It only had USB-C ports (or whatever Apple calls them). I found Zoom meetings were unstable over WiFi, so I got a couple of USB-C to RJ45 and went wired. One was a Belkin brand, the other was a different brand … both worked, and in my particular Zoom situation, meetings became rock-solid.

    Van,
I use a USB-C to RJ45 adapter plugged into my HP Septre laptop's Thunderbolt port, but the adpater works just as well plugged into the laptop's other high-speed USB-C ports also. Works great.

Thanks for your comments. I will move forward and get a laptop with Thunderbolt and USB-C ports.
