New to the Flex Platform, AU-520M Maestro Control Console
Options
Apologies for the simple question, but I'm new the the Flex platform and all the remote options/configurations. I pre-ordered the AU-520M to have the physical interface on the front. All the pictures show it as a single unit, but can the front display/control be separated to be operated some distance away from the main unit? Or should have I ordered the AU-520 and the Maestro Control Console separately?
I see this as an available option on the website: Maestro Control Console for the FLEX-6000/8000
I guess I have time to figure out the feng shui of the shack, but not sure if I'm going to have the whole unit on the table or off to the side in a rack.

The M models do not have a detachable front panel. If you want the ability to separate the control head from the radio, you will need the 520 / Maestro combination, not the 520M.

i wondered the same thing back when i started with a 6600M I like knobs and am old fashioned boat anchor guy so i started with a 6600M and a maestro B; just updated to the 8600M ; if you like knobs in front of you then get the M model then a maestro for remote; have fun and good luck
