Odd SWR

so if I use the tune button I get 1.07. If I use the FT8 tune I get 1.17. This is repeatable.

Ya got me on this one. Is the final section modified in some way for the two different applications??

A couple things Peter. The swr will read different if you're not tuning with enough power to check your swr.. so at 10w of tune power your radio or an external meter might indicate 1:1 where at 100w it might indicate 1.3:1 lost power reflecting in coax runs at lower power can cause this. When i seriously want to check swr... ill throw 30w at it. The other 1.0 to 1.17:1 the frequency changes say from 7.074 with the rig tune and 7.074 + whatever your transmit offset is set to. THAT IS a mighty narrow antenna if the second one is the reason. My johnson kw matchboxes arent very efficient at low power and tune best over 30w... where my palstar can use less tune power. DD

I find 25 watts tuning yields good results with the Tuner Genius. I never use the Tune function in WSJT-X except to verify TX audio is getting from WSJT-X to the radio and over the air.
