CW Spacing Between Characters

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to the Flex environment. Current setup is as follows: 6600, SmartSDR version 3.8.23, N1MM+. I have a winkeyer setup in SmartSDR CAT.

When sending CW either via function keys on N1MM+ or through the CWX window there is a very long space between each character that is sent. For instance sending N5DX is like this: N (pause) 5 (pause) D (pause) X (pause).

Any suggestions? I've looked through the manual, searched online and even put the problem to CHATGPT.

Thanks,
Kevin, N5DX

Kevin, I use a stand alone Winkeyer, not hooked the PC, just plugged into the key port of the radio. But I use CWX a lot and don’t see that problem here. I can stop CWX just by tapping the key. Not much help I guess but to say the spacing here is fine. I have had that tyoe of problem before on a IC7300 using both a pc program and winkeyer though.

Hi Kevin, I have never seen or even heard about that, so I suspect that it is a one-off situation. I would do a factory reset (export your profiles first).

If that doesn't solve it, submit a help desk ticket.

Seems to be working fine now. I'm not sure what happened other than clicking the PC audio button. Sounds fine now.
