Dear all,

I have the 8600M and will use the WSJTX on my Macbook.

Is their an complete SmartSDR on my MacBook needed to run WSJTX?

If no, what is needed to connect the Flex with my MacBook to run WSJTX?

The easiest way to run any FT8 and FT4 is to use macssdr from Marcus.. can be downloaded from apple app store..does cost about $99 …search app store for "smart sdr"

Marcus version of smartsdr includes integrated FT4/FT8 and rtty modes and cw decoder as well a log and clusters …well worth the price for first time flex and mac users

Running mac native wsjtx with 8600m front panel slices is not easy but YOU can run wsjtx and smartsdr but will need loopback to route audio (aka dax data steam)

Search the community and you will find lotsa info on how to do this…

i run multiple macs (macbook air M1. mac minis M1) all running current macos 15.4.1

I run a flex 6600m with mac and wsjtx and other support apps ( xdax.xcat, loopback).

i did have 8600m but encountered difficulty interfacing wsjtx using these supports apps on a mac.

here are two loopback devices to use with macssdr

i tend to create specific loopback devices rather than general ones…i find easier to debug

    and

    to include new digital s/w

the top device is wsjtx xmit..take audio fromn wsjtx and send to macssdr fro transmit

the next device is how to get audio from macssdr to wsjtx fro receive decoding

    this is wsjtx configuration/setup

these are loopback setup for using macssdr with my 6600m on macbook air M1

these example should be clear enough to easily read and understand.

    I hope ;-)

this should allow you to run wsjtx with macssdr ..so you can run super fox , or Fox/hound mode of FT8 that macssdr does not currently have available.
