WNB Improvement with 8600

Options

In the past with 6500 and 6700 at my other QTH that was in the city, the WNB was useful at times. Since moving out to the country where it is much more quieter I didn't really use it except for 2m sometimes on the 6700.

Since getting the 8600 and now with all the noise on the lower bands I've been using WNB and have noticed a very noticeable improvement with atmospheric and lightning crashes. You can tell the difference in the final audio result and in the waterfall turning it on/off. The crashes are definitely being suppressed and for me makes for more pleasant for the ears.

I'm sure it's due to the extra horsepower in the 8000 series. I may have missed it but I haven't seen other comments on this. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have noticed the WNB on my new 8600 is much more effective than the 6500. Didn't seem to work very well on the 6500. On the 8600 it drops the general noise floor on some bands. I also get a clicking interference on a few bands. The WNB does a good job at that and takes it out of the waterfall. The NB gets rid of it, but it is still displayed in the waterfall. So overall, I agree, WNB is greatly improved in the new 8600. Only problem is if there is a strong signal on the band, seems to get problems with that still. So just lower the level, to a happy medium
