Diversity Topology

Options

I have a question regarding an 8600 and diversity reception.

Currently my configuration is 8600 (Ant A) —> PGXL (Drive A)—> TGXL 1x3 (TX).

I have one of the tuner outputs connected to a three-position manual switch to select between one of three antennas. The other two are for dedicated antennas.

I'm looking for suggestions regarding diversity reception and what I need to modify in my current setup.

Thanks.

Hi Geoff, for diversity reception, you will need an antenna on your ANT2 or RXB port.

Hi Len, I understand that is what is necessary.

I'll just have to figure the best way to add more switching as I don't have any antennas dedicated for receiving.

Right now with the manual switch I'll need an additional switch to move one of the antennas to another port on the radio.

or set up an antenna exclusively for receiving. I use a loop on ground on the tx input. No switching needed since it cannot be used to transmit.

Err, should be rx antenna (auto corrupt again).

John…do you find the loop on the ground beneficial for diversity reception?

I have not. I use it as a low noise antenna, similar to a Beverage, which I don’t have room for.

    Thanks John.

I'm looking into a LoG or loop as possibilities for a receive antenna. So I appreciate your feedback.

Diversity is something new to me.
