I'm currently using various Flex/SmartSDR products at my organization.
There are two main issues that make it difficult to set up these radios on our corporate network with strict security restrictions. Firstly, relying solely on DHCP is problematic in a large-scale environment like ours because there can sometimes be delays or inconsistencies when assigning an initial IP address through the company's IT infrastructure. Secondly, SmartSDR necessitates being connected directly within the same local area to receive broadcasts from the radios for connection purposes.
To improve usability and reliability of our equipment under these conditions:
1. It would significantly benefit us if there were at least one option in FlexRadio's software that allows users like myself (who need an IP static address) to manually input a static IP or hostname instead.
2. This capability is essential as it reduces dependency on DHCP for initial connectivity and improves the overall value of these products for our amateur and scientific applications.
