Why do I get different SWR reading for the same tuner solution

On 12m I noticed I was getting a SWR reading of >2 when transmitting. I noted the values of C1, L & C2 and then hit the Tune button. The TGXL came back with exactly the same values as I had previously noted. Next time I transmitted the SWR was <1.1

Any one have an explanation of what might be going on?

    John,

You didn't state if you had just tuned when you saw the > 2:1 .

I'd assume that something was off with your 12m antenna. The tuner was set to some value that worked previously for that antenna but was not optimum for it as that point.

You then hit the tune button and rematched thus achieving 1:1

The tuner does not actively adjust its settings so with the change in antenna you were just off.

    that's my guess.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu.
