SD Card

Hello to all Readers

As I am still a Flex beginner, questions arise .....

SD Card: My 6400 has an SD card.
- What's on it?
- Can the operating system be found here?
- How do I know which version I have?

Can this SC card and its contents be flashed? Would be great, as a backup so to speak. We are always told to make a backup .....

Hi Daniel, Flex sells a backup SD card for $30 USD. This card can be used if you experience SD card corruption or failure of some kind. You will likely need to upgrade the SmartSDR version unless you just happen to install it before the next version comes out. The idea behind this card is to minimize downtime in case of SD card failure.

This is an industrial grade SD card, and it is not recommended to use anything besides one supplied by Flex. I would not try to copy what is there and then try to re-introduce it to the radio. I don't know how risky that is, but it would be bad to brick the radio and have to send it back to Flex to be repaired.

The better way to back up your Flex is to export your profiles which saves the data shown below. Then if you need to reset your radio to factory default, you just import your saved profiles, and the radio will be just the way it was before the reset.

The SmartSDR version is shown in the lower left-hand corner of SmartSDR.

I keep a backup copy of my 6600M's SD card. The radio works fine with either the original card I received from Flex Radio or the backup SD card. You just have to clone the card properly.
