How to troubleshoot microphone noise on 20 meters?
I have a Audix OM-3 studio mic BAL 1/4" input and footswitch plugged into the 6600M. Maestro B hardwired into my network. BIAS is disabled and 20+ preamp enabled. Only on 20m do I get a lot of hash noise on Tx. If I turn down the mic gain 50% it goes away but I lose half the power, too. Thoughts?

when you say noise, are you listening to your transmitted signal odo you har it locally?

I hear it locally through the MONITOR and it shows up on on the Panadapter.

Hi Bruce, it sounds like you are getting feedback from the monitor. Turn it off to see if the noise goes away. If it does, then either turn down the monitor or use headphones.

Comes through on headphones.

Have you tried activating the Downward Expander and sliding to "full-on"?? I often find this is really effective to 'quieten' down my microphone.. Just a thought.

I don't recommend running DEXP "Full On" because it can start clipping your audio mid-syllable.
There are instructions in the Software User Guide for properly adjusting the DEXP.
