The virtual serial port (VSP) failed to create.

Hi, smart sdr for windows. using 3.8.19. CAT will not create new virtual port. I get the message failed to create. I can't find Tim's message on how to reset using %AppData method.

I'm sure the virtual ports are corrupted. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I really don't want to reinstall windows 10 yet. lol. thanks Stuart

I can tell you that trying to reset can lead to a big mess. Better is to uninstall and reinstall per Flex recommendation.

Hi Erik, Yes I believe that was what I was looking for. Unfortunately it did not work. I might have really **** up the com ports in windows itself. I'll take any other suggestions to try before I go through the painful process of reinstalling windows😥. Really appreciate your help! thanks.

You could try Com Port Arbiter -

The theory is that it will remove the unused reservations and stuck phantom devices that prevent new installations such as FlexVSP. I have used it successfully but I cannot guarantee it will solve your issue. It must be worth a try ahead of having to reinstall Windows.

thanks, com tool stops working and locks up. really appreciate your help. My computer has also been giving me the blue screen of death every once in a while also. I think it's time to take more drastic measures. lol.
