Will a Flex 6600 be compatible to connect a PreppComm MMX Zero to it? And, are there special instructions to do so from Flex Radio Manuals?

According to their web page, you only need a key in jack and a phones out jack on the radio. The Flex has both, so it sounds like it is compatible.

  • Thanks! I'll proceed with the Zero

    Hello mdestabrook,

Did this work out for you?

Can you describe your configuration and observations?

  • Thanks Segrest,

I did purchase the MMX Zero...and I do understand how to set up the 6600 Flex for CW operation...; but the physical connections to the Flex 6600 is another thing..; I have asked the PreppComm Community to expound on what connections go where on the 6600...; the Flex Connections are via RCA …; the PreppComm Zero are all 3.5mm plugs and the plugs are Stereo but some stems are left off to make the connections Mono so I am purchasing 3.5 mm plugs that I can rewire to meet the in and out connections to the 6600..once I have that I have no clue what revised RCA plug goes where on the 6600? can you help? I have all sorts of photos and PDFs on how the plug configurations should work...I feel comfortable with that!...; but not where they go on the 6600 radio.
  • mdestabrook,
Were you able to connect and master this gadget. Have one and trying to get a consistent result.

  • Hi, George, the Connections I used seem to work as the MMX Zero shows enabled...I can try to send a directed CW to you at K7GRJ if you wish? I am using 7.110 Mhz...is there a better frequency for you?

I've been trying to setup my 6600 to work with the MMX and I'm pulling my hair out. I have the following hardware setup:

Preppcomm 3.5mm keyer cable from MMX to key input on 6600

Preppcomm 3.5mm audiocable from MMX to headphone jack on 6600

SSDR mode CW, Pitch 1300, RX filter width 2600

I have verified that audio is being delivered by connecting a powered speaker to the preppcomm audio cable

So far I cannot get the MMX to decode any signals. I have tried tuning to strong CW signals and have very slowly moved up an down the freq range to no avail

Secondly when I press the call button, the MMX will show cq being called, but the 6600 will no key into tx mode

I'm at a loss. Any help most appreciated

  • The connection cables provided were faulty with the soldering as well as how it was configured…Please refer to the MMX Zero Manual as to how the connection cables should be configured. Mark WA4TX
