SmartSDR CAT and Ham Radio Deluxe

I am running SmartSDR (v 3.8.19) on a Flex 8400 and use SmartSDR CAT to interface the radio to Ham Radio Deluxe. After all software has been launched, communication between the radio and HRD works fine. This makes me believe all configurations are correct. However, upon switching bands on the 8400, communication between the radio and HRD stops. Shutting down SmartSDR CAT and re-starting it will re-enable communication.

I am using a Dell Vostro running windows 11.

Previously I configured HRD with a Flex 5000 using a third party virtual serial port program with no problems.

Any help is appreciated.

    Hi John, I would submit a help desk ticket.

  • I did. Tim Ellison responded quickly. The answer was that Flex could not solve a problem with third party software. He suspected the problem was with HRD and also noted that this problem had not not been reported by another Flex user. Len, thanks for your suggestion.

    I have HRD and a 6600. HRD support is very good in that they have tech who is VERY good on HRD and the SSDR. After installing a new faster Win-11 PC I had to redo everything I had set up across months with a tablet PC on the desk. (I forgot a bunch of details)

    The tech logged in and spent 40 minutes on my screens. Got dozens of settings done including linking HRD to 3 log books. PLus WSJTx.

    He installed Slicemaster and it launches WSJTx or DM780. I mentioned I wanted to get rid of HRD Rig Control but he kept it because I need to set up a couple of other programs I saw here somewhere, first.

    Using the system, I found that a band change in SSDR would shut down and re-start HRD. I had a second short support session this afternoon about that issue. The result is they have no solution. I asked him to take a note of it for the programmers.

    I have to change bands from HRD Rig control module. I dont like this so IM going to find the here on Flex community.

    So im another flex user with the same problem as John.

    I suggest you ask HRD for support and they will assign the Flex guy to your case and let him see the same issue I have.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
