How do I set up a USB port on the flex 6400 to send frequency info to a Hamation MD-12 Decoder?

I need to send frequency data to the MD-12 so I can get a PB28 antenna switch controller to change to the proper antenna. The Hamation web page indicates it will work with flex radios using the USB connection direct to the radio. Hamation gives no instruction about how to do this. I set it up the way I thought it should work but it didn't. Any ideas?

    Hi Allen,

If you haven't done this already, in SmartSDR, go to Settings, USB Cables…

Select an unused cable position and click the Edit button. Give it a meaningful name (in my example, this is for my KPA500 amplifier). Set the cable type to CAT. Set Source to whatever makes sense, most likely TX Slice so that it has the right antenna when you transmit.

You may or may not need to set the RS-232 parameters in the Advanced section.

Post back here with your progress.

I set mine up the same as yours except for the speed. There was no guidance for setting speed. when I look at the log I only see rx no tx. When the PB28 is disconnected from the MD-12 data stops streaming. So some is coming to the 6400 but not going to the PB28 antenna switch comptroller. Should work but it doesn't.

When you click the Edit button for your USB cable, does it show a serial number?

    Yes

Ok, it sounds like you have a proper cable. I would contact Hamation. I am guessing thai it is a setting or two away from working.

Len, Thanks for your help. You are probably right on the next step. Hamation is a one man outfit so it might be slow to get any answers but I have patience.
