mAT-1500Pro Tuner Integration w/ Flex 6000/8000 Series

Good afternoon, all -
Have any of you been successful in integrating a mAT-1500Pro tuner with your Flex? The tuner supports the Kenwood protocol for comms (in addition to Icom and Yaesu), and provides a cable that terminates into the Kenwood EXT.AT connector with effectively four pins - GND, 12V, TS (AT-300 Control I/O), and TT (AT-300 Control I/O). The tuner does not support rf sense for tuning; if used in manual mode, you need to physically press the tune button which is not ideal for a radio like a Flex (especially when remote). I'd ideally like to franken-cable something together using one of the Flex-compatible FTDI cables and the tuner cable, but I don't know nearly enough about the Kenwood TT/TS wires nor about configuring things on the Flex side to know how to properly do this (or if it's even possible).
Would really appreciate some guidance here - the tuner is otherwise a great tuner (integrates beautifully with my Yaesu FTdx-10) and I'd really like to continue using it with my (incoming) Flex 8400.
Thanks all!
