using ion2g with maestro C - freqs not changing on maestro

Has anyone used the new Maestro C when running ion2g?

My experience so far is that the frequency doesn't change on the Maestro when ion2g moves from channel to channel (or using VFO). Everything works as expect when using SmartSDR and running ion2g.

Will open a ticket if that will help, but not sure Flex will have much on ion2g interfacing.

Did you change the DAX and CAT pulldown client references when you switched between SmartSDR and Maestro clients? I use ion2G on Mac and PC clients but I imagine the Maestro client would work the same way?

Yes, DAX and CAT are pointed at the Maestro. BTW, it isn't just ion2g, same thing is happening when using FLDigi. Have not tried FT8 yet but assume I will get the same results. Created helpdesk ticket.

Here's a thought, does it matter that the frequencies are in the extended range? Does the Maestro recognize them or is that just the radios job?

By “extended” I think you mean outside the normal amateur bands. My understanding is that any frequency can be selected (to receive) but, unless you have the proper TURF file loaded (into the radio) you can’t transmit out of band.

If the VFO is not allowing the frequency to change on the Maestro maybe the slice is locked? Sorry for stating the obvious but sometimes the simplest things can be overlooked. Someone will figure it out!

Hi Rich, are you running the Maestro and SmartSDR at the same time? If so, then the Maestro and SmartSDR are each a separate, independent station (client) of the radio (server). It sounds like your digital programs are bound to SmartSDR instead of the Maestro. This is why John asked about the drop-down client references.

You might try shutting down SmartSDR. Manually start CAT and DAX on the same computer that your digital program is running on and see if you get a better result.

Oh this is embarassing. I found the issue only minutes before Ken wrote back to me about my help desk ticket.

On the Maestro I use the VFO lock buttons so that I don't bump the knobs and go off frequency. On top of that I have "routines" that use FRStack to change freq's whichapparently turn off the lock and change the freq then turn the lock back on.

Bottom line, I didn't understand how the lock button worked, but now I do.
