FYI ISSUES - Mac Sequoia (macos15) with xdax, xcat , loopback and wsjtx

i run a flex 6600m and use both mac mini's M1 and macbook air M1…

i use macbookair as my testbed and updated to macos 15.0 and then loopback needed to be update to v 2.4.3….now xdax does not send date from wsjtx thru loopback/xdax to the 6600m..

Xdax / wsjytx receives and decodes received data just fine but can not transmit a FT8 data stream…. wsjts transmit data stream doesnt show up in xdax hence can not be sent to radio…

i have contacted Rogue Ameba and they are aware of these issue and requested i run debug and send results to them which i did.

My operational system are mac minis 'sM1 running macos 14.x, loopback v2.3.2 and xdax/xcat and wsjtx just fine. That setup will stay that way till macbookair runs properly

Macssdr runs fine for me on macbookair M1 with Macos 15.

Seems there are still enough quirks and burps in macos 15 to not run it in operational setup.

That xDAX issue might be similar to the February 3 discussion "Loopback and xdax on a Mac".

xDAX failed when I upgraded Loopback from v2.3.2 to v2.4.3 on macOS Sonoma. xDAX TX stopped working, while xDAX RX was still OK.

One choice was to downgrade Loopback to v2.3.2 (which did work). Doesn't sound like Sequoia would allow that one (requires 2.4.3).

But, I found that if I launch xDAX in a Terminal window, it works (at least for me).

The Feb 3 discussion has more info, if interested.

i dont even see Terminal in 'mic" security setting

i even reload xdax to see if security would ask for it …nope…

sure glad i have multiple mac's and only one i use as testbed for such stuff

i will wait till sequoia, loopback and maybe even xdax get fixed are fix

before operational system gets any upgrades…

    UPdate… 11 NOV 2024

I have been working with Rogue ameba regarding loopback v2.4.x and interface with xDax…

The problem has been identified as xDax not having microphone privileges and there is NO Way to make that happen in Sequoia ( macos 15.1)…

i will require that xDax be updated to be Sequoia compliant. I have emailed Mario the developer of xDax but have not heard back from him as of this time….life goes on.

    and

Mario gave the community access to his work freely…

as side note note to those who use WSJTX on mac's . You all know macssdr by Marcus has builtin FT8 and other digital modes but maybe like me prefer to use FT 8 from WSJTX or JTDX..

my current work around is to setup loopback to accessing dax in macssdr and can also use CAT function too

so if you decide to upgrade to Macos 15.x be prepared that xDax a will no longer function

    and

if you use M-model like i have (6600m) you will need to use macssdr and it dax or windows ssdr and its dax

below are screen shots of setup

loopback to use macssdr and its dax function on my macbookair

DAX setup for macsssdr and wsjtx

CAT setup below for wsjtx anbd macssdr
