smartSDR Mac freezes after yesterdays update on Mac

smartSDR Mac freezes after yesterdays update to Sequoia 15.0 on Mac.
I am using the latest version of smartSDR for Mac Version 2.9.32 (243401), tried to reinstall but that did not help.

You may want to reach out to Marcus DL8MRE the creator of the MacOS version. I'm not sure he monitors these forums. If you can launch the app and before you connect go to the Settings tab the 'Information & Support' there is an option to 'Mail to Marcu, DL8MRE' if you can't get there maybe try his email on QRZ. Good luck

I too just installed the new Mac OS Sequoia and now my Smart SDR for Mac doesn’t see my Flex 6600 radio! Anyone else have this problem. I did write to Marcus about it this evening.

    hi all

i do not have an issue with macssdr crashing or hanging

running macbook air M1 2020 wirth sequoia

    and

i did contact macus to let him know it works for me as a data point fro trouble shooting

    and

    received this response

Thanks but there is no problem. Usual trouble shooting should fix any problems. If users are still having issues they can contact me at any time to get further assistance.

However, macOS 15 itself has quite some serious bugs (as well as iOS18) which is why Apple has already pulled the plug.

Howvever loopback is not working for me even with the updated version 2.4.2 from rogue ameba

using xdax xcat wsjtx to 6600m on this macbookair…

i have contacted rogue ameba and are aware of the issue from other users

i sent them a debug file as requested..

for me the macbookair is a test bed

mac mini 's inthe shack are my main machines…

no upgrading them till these issues are resolved

    Update
disabling the macOS firewall did the trick...

I am still running Sonoma as my macOS. When I updated loopback to new version it broke my DAX. So I reverted to the prior version of Loopback with Time Machine and things ran again. I think I will wait for a while to upgrade to Sequoia until Apple figures out all the bugs.

yep…current loopback has issues… tried to run it on macbookair M1 with sequoia…NO GO

been working with rogue ameba with couple new alpha version which still do not work…

wsjtx receives audio from xDax but xDax does not get audio from wsjtx to send to the radio

there are issues between loopback ARK module and apples core audio….

Using Older version Loopback on mac mini running Sonoma macos

will continue to use older setup until rogue ameba has proper fix or sequoia update fixes…

and will continue to use macbookair as is to help rogue ameba

Just installed macOS 15.1, the macOS firewall issue is still there, they have not fixed the UDP problem and the firewall must be deactivated for smartSDR to run as it should.
    This was a setback.
Luckily I'm using Intego Antivirus and this has a working firewall.
  • Have the same issue with the latest version of SmartSDR v2.9.42 (data D4.2.04) on a Macbook Pro 16 (2019) running MacOS Sequoia v15.1

Although the SmartSDR app was not blocked (menu's still functioning) - the slice waterfall window is frozen.
While this was the case I went to System Settings - Firewall Advanced Settings - Firewall - Options:
    - block all incoming connections = OFF (was back on by default due to upgrade Sequoia)
    - double checked all apps just in case something as open which should not be.....
    - SmartSDR: changed to: Allow incoming connections !!!
    - pressed OK

a few seconds later the slice waterfall unlocked and all went back to normal - which means that the firewall was indeed blocking the UDP frames.

    Hope this helps others...
