DAX driver error solved

I have a computer that is unusable with the current software due to a DAX driver error. This has persisted for a few years. I opened a support ticket when this first occurred. But none of the proposed solutions solved the problem. I recently was scanning the Flex Community pages when I happened upon a solution that one member discovered. I didn't have time that day to perform what had to be done. But this morning I did what was proposed and it worked. It was to : Uninstall Dell Support Assist. Reinstall Flex SSDR. my thanks to whoever made that suggestion, I couldn't find the page again. I hope this helps someone else. I can now do FT8 . oorah

Thanks for this Dave. I've been having problems with my Dell XPS desktop randomly crashing. While I don't run DAX, I'm wondering if this Dell 'support' software is causing other problems as well.

I'm going to try removing it (I don't use it anyway) and see if it helps. I'll update here what I find.

Update — I've found that removing both DAX and the Dell Support Assist software has stabilized the computer immensely. I've gone now for almost 2 weeks with no hesitation or freezes.

At first, I took the computer 'back to basics' — also removing the additional graphics card (a Radeon) and using a 'wired' keyboard and mouse. No freezes.

This week, I've swapped the keyboard and mouse for the wireless versions — so far so good. We'll give it another week and if OK, I'll add back in something else. (Maybe DAX :-) )

Update #2 — Computer has been stable now for over 2 weeks! Hurrah! No problems with freezing after adding back the wireless keyboard and mouse.

With the release of 3.8.19, I decided to re-install the DAX drivers back into the mix. So far, so good.

To be honest, I don't really see the need for the Dell Support Assist, so I won't be putting that back onto the PC. Don't really need the Radeon graphics card, since the on-board handles the dual monitors just fine.

It's great to have my 'always working' computer back again.
