Jim…I believe you must be using WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc6

Geoff….. thanks for the reply, but Im not sure what youre saying………. Do i need to downgrade to 2.7.0 rc6?

Jim… I'm not sure I know rc6 works but this is from the WSJT-X page (https://wsjt.sourceforge.io/wsjtx.html):
IMPORTANT: Hounds must use WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc6 (or a later release, when available) to receive SuperFox messages.
So some confusion about 2.7.1 devl, Ive never tried it.

Thanks Geoff……. Im confused on how to operate the radio when using SFH aalso

Well, you cannot use WSJT-X without a computer running the software. Do you have that setup?

of course. I run regular FT8 all the time

OK the SuperFox mode is selected here:

Progress???

Not really. I completely uninstalled 2.7.1 devl and cleaned my registry of all traces of WSJT-x. I reinstalled the latest "normal" version which is 2.6.1. However on the advanced tab in settings, there is no checkbox for super fox mode;

Right…2.6.1 does not have the option:
Hounds must use WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc6

Don't confuse 2.6.1 with 2.7.1 which does have the option.
2.7.1 is written by one of the wsjtx development group and mirrors 2.7.0-rc6 but adds enhancements.

Thanks for the clarification Erik, I was't sure of the capabilities of 2.7.1.
It's hard to keep up!

Jim…Let me know how 2.7.1 works, on your advice I'll try it.

Well I have finally got 2.7.1 reinstalled and working with "normal" FT8. Now to figure out how to use SFH with the radio Tomorrows job

In WSJT-X, go to settings then advanced and check SuperFox
Then on main WSJT-X screen click FT-8 and above that button make sure H is enabled. It should show SuperHound mode.
You may need to add custom frequencies. In WSJT-X go to settings/Frequencies and right click the area where you see frequencies and click add. Enter the frequency (21.091 for example) and set mode to all. Region can be your IARU region (2 for North America).
The WSJT-X web page has a help section that is well written too.

I understood Jim's question to mean setting up the radio. The one difference between normal Fox / Hound for hounds and SuperFox for hounds is that, especially with Flex radios, the hounds can call up to 4000Hz in F/H and 5000Hz in SF/H. Therefore the radio can, if you desire short time calling to get through, be set to have the wider receive bandwidth available in SF/H in league with the wide graph setting in wsjtx (bins / pixel).
TXing just below 4000Hz got me through to N5J, who used SuperFox, fast on all the bands I worked them on. As for CY9C, being so close geographically, I haven't had the need to call above 3000 but presumably with their Flex radios they are using the full 5000Hz.
The respective guides for verification are at

Thanks to both of you for your help. Managed to get it up and running today.

Aw c'mon Jim. I did show you where to find the SuperFox checkbox which I believe is what you were missing.
And I did point out that I had no experience with 2.7.1
Have fun and good DX!
