WiFi 6 Or Not in Maestro C ?

Mike Walker said in a YouTube video interview by "Ham Radio 2.0" (at 14:05):

that there is "no WiFi 6" in the Maestro C. But the description on the Flex Radio Website ( https://www.flexradio.com/products/maestro-control-console-flex-6000/ ) lists "Improved WiFi 6" as a feature. Does anyone know which is correct ?

Thanks Russ KR6W

According to page 16 of the Maestro User Guide, the C model is WIFI6 capable.

    Hi Don,

Thanks for the response ! Yeah, it says that on the Flex Radio website product description page as well. But Mike very clearly states it doesn't have it multiple times. And that interview was recorded yesterday. He's talking about features that were designed in but aren't activated yet like BlueTooth. So perhaps it's physically there but not implemented yet. And later he confuses IPv6 with WiFi 6 so it's not clear. Some of the generic problems with using WiFi are improved with the WiFi 6 standard so it's important which it is. Perhaps Flex will comment …

I do not know WiFi 6 or not, but I do see:

    • still no enterprise 802.1x / EAP, which often means username + password + certificate. For me, this means not being able to use my Maestro on my workplace WiFi
    • still no apostrophe-allowed in SSID. iPhones automatically create a hotspot using device-owner's name (grammatically correct wiht possessive-apostrophe). The Maestro is my only device that fails to recognize and accept the apostrophe :-(

Sorry to hear both of those things Gord. Perhaps Flex and/or Mike can comment on both our posts.
