Flex 6400M Recording and Playback

Options

I'm trying to record my callsign for transmission (CW) over the air, following the instructions for recording and playback. I read the manual several times -- press the red button, transmit, press the red button again, then press the button that is now green; but nothing happens on playback. I think I'm missing something obvious. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Answered my own question: One of the options that can be used with the Function Keys is to "Send CW," where a short message can be transmitted, such as a CQ. The red and green dots on the Slice Menu were not designed for this purpose, as I have discovered. In any case, this information may be of help to others.

When sending CW, no audio is sent, only carrier. So nothing to record.

Thanks for the explanation, John! Now the record/playback option makes much more sense. I just wish that I had looked more carefully at the manual (Section 34.4) about the function keys, before sending my earlier question to the group. 73, Joe
